Photo Highlights from the 52nd Annual Dance for Mother Earth Powwow

On March 28 and 29th, approximately 3,500 people attended the 52nd annual Dance for Mother Earth Powwow at Skyline High School in Ann Arbor. Hosted by the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives in partnership with the Native American Student Association, this annual gathering is an opportunity for the University of Michigan community to experience and honor Native American heritage and history.

The U-M Annual Dance for Mother Earth Powwow is one of the largest university Powwows in the country, hosting some of North America’s greatest Native American singers, dancers, and artists.

“The Dance for Mother Earth Powwow is a longstanding and honored tradition at the University of Michigan, centering Native voices, community, and students, and holding a space where Native culture is recognized and honored. This year, that sense of connection felt especially strong across generations, across campus, and throughout the broader community,” reflected OAMI interim co-director Hector Galvan.
